Yes, people, especially girls always love the so called rosy lips irrespective of their age. Soft pinkish lips are womens’ craze in all generations :)

Percy Bysshe Shelley says “Soul meets soul on lovers' lips”

As the saying goes, Lips have always been embraced and loved by everyone ;)
So how does one take care of it in the right way keeping them safely locked from all pollutions and preserve them for their beloved? ;) Come on, we always have nature’s love in various forms to help us keep ourselves healthy and beautiful! So read on to know how to get your rosy rosy lips :D

Basic Lip Care Tips
  • Everyday, when you brush your teeth, just brush on your lips as well (let it be soft and gentle). This is the best exfoliation method that can be done everyday and that helps you get smooth lips (100% guaranteed).

  • When your skin loses its moisture, it starts drying and when the dryness persists, it leads to peening and cracking. Your lips are so delicate and they tend to dry quickly. So Always keep your lips WELL MOITURIZED. Apply your favourite lip balm whenever you feel your lips dry.

  • Always remember, lips are the part of your body which gathers dead skin cells more than other skin areas. So here the second step of exfoliation you will need to follow in a day-to-day basis:

    • Right after you bath, wet your lips thoroughly and scrub it slowly from left to right and back from right to left using your index finger or alternately can use a soft turkey towel to do it. While doing it, you can see the dead skin layer which is on top of your lips, get peeled and come off. This can be done twice or thrice a day to keep your lips smooth and supple.

How Do I Exfoliate My Lips??

Scrub.. Scrub.. Scrub…
Scrubbing is the best way to exfoliate your lips and keep them soft, smooth, supple and kissable ;)

Lush makes good lip scrubs in various lip smacking flavours. You can try them out for good exfoliation!

  • Apply the scrub adequately on your lips and slowly scrub it from left to right and back from right to left. Do the same for your lower lip as well. Wash the scrub off after 2-3 minutes and you can feel your lips baby soft :)

  • Or if you are on a budget, you can try any one of the homemade lip scrubs listed below:

    • Mix olive oil and a bit of sugar in a small bowl. Use your finger to slowly and gently massage the mixture onto your lips in a circular motion. Exfoliate all over and don’t worry about getting a little bit inside your mouth, since this formula is actually quite tasty. When you’re done, rinse with warm water or a damp washcloth. Apply a lip balm to dry lips.

    • Add a little of petroleum jelly to a toothbrush with soft bristles. Rub the toothbrush gently over your lips in a circular motion. After 2-3 minutes of scrubbing, wipe off the excess petroleum jelly, and apply your favourite lip balm or the petroleum jelly itself to keep your lips moisturized.

    • Take two tablespoons of sugar and add a teaspoon of honey to it. Mix the two ingredients until they form a paste. Apply to lips and allow the paste to dry. When dry, use a damp washcloth to wipe off the paste.

    • Add baking soda to water and mix until it forms a paste. Apply the paste to a toothbrush with soft bristles and rub the toothbrush over your lips in a circular motion. Make sure to be gentle! When you’re done, rinse off the paste with warm water. Apply a lip balm to lock in moisture.

Oohh! Aahh! Chapped lips? What do I do??

Chapped lips are always troublesome as they feel dry and painful. Even they bleed :( It is always necessary to treat chapped\cracked lips at the earliest to keep them healthy. Here are the reasons that cause chapped lips:

Over-Exfoliation
We know that always exfoliation is supposed to give us super soft skin, and it does. But you can actually do damage to your lips if you over-exfoliate, even with your face wash. If you remove too much skin, your lips won’t be able to lock in moisture. So exfoliate moderately.

Using A Waxy Lip Balm
All lip balms are not created equally or similarly. Wax based lip balms don’t provide the same amount of protection as petroleum-based lip balms.

Your Lip Balm Is A Little Too Flavourful
If you’re applying a flavoured lip balm and constantly licking your lips, you’re actually doing more damage than good to your pout because the salt from your saliva is drying out the skin on your lips. So avoid licking your lips or if unavoidable, use a flavourless lip balm.

Consuming Less Water
Sure, you’ve heard that drinking water is beneficial to your skin, and that includes your lips!

Stress
Many people tend to bite their lips when they’re feeling stressful, and this habit doesn’t make for a pretty pout. Even biting your nails tend to unintentionally coat your lips with saliva, which dries out your pout. So avoid stress!

Cinnamates
Avoid lip balm\gloss that contains Cinnamates, which are often used in lip plumpers to add a bit of fragrance, as they actually have a drying effect on the skin.

Breathing Out Of Your Mouth
When you breathe out of your mouth instead of your nose, your lips tend to get chapped even more as the air that comes out keeps drying your lips.

So how to cure chapped lips?

Fighting against chapped lips is so simple if you follow these 4 simple rules regularly!!
  • Invest in a good lip balm and apply it whenever you feel your lips dry.

  • Apply honey or olive oil every night to your lips to keep them well hydrated.

  • Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated; this is the best way to keep your skin healthy and glowing.

  • Exfoliate regularly, atleast once in a day.

Oh my pinky lips

Ok, now my lips are smooth, soft and hydrated but they’re so pigmented. Or like, my upper lip is darker than the lower lip. What do I do?
Is this your question too? Read on to know the tips and remedies for getting a pinkish pout!

  • Don’t ever smoke or consume too much of alcohol since Nicotine causes lip discoloration.
  • Try to reduce your tea or coffee consumption as well since caffeine can actually darken your lips.
  • Try using a lip balm or lipstick with sunscreen. Otherwise, you can also apply sunscreen and then top off with your lipstick\balm (if you can bear heavy lips :P).
  • Drink more milk. Lactic acid has whitening properties and it also speeds up the dead cell removal process.
  • Never use expired lipsticks. Always prefer using lipsticks from reputed brands.
  • Apply beetroot juice on your lips in the morning and night.
  • Applying coriander juice will make your lips pink.
  • Apply the paste of rose petals with milk added to it.
  • Always remove lipstick every night before going to bed.
  • Vitamin C intake is also essential for getting rid of lip pigmentation.
  • Cocoa butter helps in reducing pigmentation on lips; so apply cocoa butter or a lip balm which contains cocoa butter to your lips.
  • Application of lemon juice on your lips helps to maintain the natural color of your lips and keeps your lips shining and soft.
  • Honey and glycerin works as best moisturizing agents so you can apply thick coat of it in the night as it will protect your lips from getting dried.
  • Give your lips a yogurt massage every morning or a malaai massage.
Final Verdict

On a final note, here are a few remedies for pigmented lips and to get a pink pout that really work out! (All tried and tested):

  • Make a paste of pure chandan (sandal wood) with rose water and apply it as a pack on your lips. Keep t overnight and wash off the next morning (sometimes it might fall off in between after drying, but that doesn’t matter!). This is a sure shot tip for pinkish lips!!
  • Mix lemon juice honey equally and apply it on your lips. Leave it for good 15-20 minutes and wash off. Follow with some lip balm or natural moisturizer.
  • Applying Beetroot juice every now and then.
  • Apply rose water on your lips whenever you feel to.

Note: Most of the tips mentioned include natural ingredients and might not suit everyone in the same way. So avoid using them if you are allergic to any of them or if you feel any irritation\rashes after using them.
